Coloring Comic Book Pages

With the use of Photoshop, I was able to not only fill these black-and-white comic book illustrations with color but add life to them by implementing shading and special effect techniques. Utilizing Photoshop’s layer function, I could build upon the illustration by beginning with a “flat” layer where I added a base color to each element. This was then followed by a “render” layer, which allowed me to switch between a screen and multiply brushes which produced the highlights and shadows. Finally, I added an “FX” layer which implemented a lot of Photoshop’s unique functions like outer glow and real images that meshed well with the art.
